How Our Company Started
Our company is named after former ABA/NBA player Norman Bounds. Stormin’ Norman was born on April 14, 1949. After his career as a professional basketball player ended concerns about his education became a hindrance.
He graduated from high school with a general diploma and earned a bachelor’s degree in college, but he only had a 3rd grade reading level. He was only able to pass his subjects because he was an athlete.
Norman lamented about his state in a newspaper interview in 1981, saying: “I’m a living legend, but I’m nothing. I’m living like a bum. People in town treat me like I’m important, but I’m a tramp.”
While he had a high school diploma and attended two junior colleges, he considered himself illiterate.
This prompted his son to come up with a company that would help other athletes gain a good education first before pursuing a career in sports. Our company was born.

Objectives:
The goal or objective of an athletic competition is typically to achieve victory. For the NBA Bills Association, however, winning is not a goal. Rather, it is an expected byproduct. If we appropriately focus upon the five objectives below, we will win more than our share of games. We will:
- Have Fun!
- Develop each player as a person first, and an athlete second.
- Learn the importance of Scholar, Teamwork and Sportsmanship.
- Give positive reinforcement based on effort rather than results.
- Learn the fundamentals of tackle football, and play it safely.
In the last 5 years Coach Murray has been to the City Championships (Mint Hill Panthers JPW, PAL, and The Derita Redskins Unlimited in its first year back in Pop Warner and Queen City Bruins ) 5 times in winning one 2017, and 2 State Championship appearances 2016-2017, 2017-2018, 2018-2019, and 2019-2020.
